HEMINGWAY’S BAR is a comedy set in Rural Ireland, about two “OLD FELLAS” who wake up one morning and realize that their lives are completely and utterly meaningless.

They also find out that Einstein discovered his amazing scientific breakthroughs, by just sitting in a chair and drifting off into his imagination. So they try to do the same, by lying down in the grassy field at the edge of the village in an attempt to find something magnificent to achieve.

During one of these “sessions” they’re visited by the ghost of Ernest Hemingway, who tells them to run away to the RITZ HOTEL in Paris, and visit his favourite bar where he would go drinking every night. This is totally exciting to them, as they’ve never been out of the county let alone Ireland.

The only problem is, they have no money.

So they go back into the field, journey into their subconscious minds and come up with the answer… ROB THE LOCAL BANK. When the big night comes, they muster all their courage, climb down into the sewer and scurry along until under the bank, only to find two “other robbers” already there. An argument ensues, which the other robbers win, stating, “first come first served”… so they sadly trudge away. However, there’s a terrible explosion, and they race back down to find the other robbers killed in the blast, and an enormous pile of bank notes sitting on the floor.

Suddenly finding themselves running around the village with a great big bag of cash and the local Garda rapidly closing in, they desperately search for a place to hide it… the only place they can think of is to bury it in the field.

Worried that “some thieving bastard” will steal their money, they come up with an excuse to walk past the field every day. On the third day they see local council workers erecting a ten foot chain link fence all the way round it, for all the retired police dogs from the county. So Shaun, who’s deathly scared of even the smallest of dogs worst nightmare has come true.

To achieve his dream and get to Hemingway’s Bar, he has to face his fears and walk right into the caged pen full of massive German Shepherds.

Against all odds, they manage to retrieve their treasure, and via local fishing boat make their way to France. Eventually throwing the party of a lifetime at the Magnificent Ritz.
